A friend shared this with me today because she knows that I am currently facilitating a class that relates to Social Media in Education. There is a wealth (too much to cover in our 9 week course) of information regarding this subject. Every now and then you come across something this timely, this fun and you have to share. Hope you enjoy this as much as I did. I can't wait to share with the class this week!
One of the issues that I have heard from teachers being able to use online interactive feedback and quizzes is the ability to draw and annotate - particularly in math and science classes. That is a major drawback to Socrative. Infuse Learning seems to have overcome that drawback. And it is multi-platform. For instance, just messing around this morning, I created an account and opened an assessment using my Kindle Fire. I was able to respond using my Android Phone. Below is a YouTube video demonstration. This site also has the ability to translate and read the questions and answers to the students making it great for differentiation. I am very excited about the possibilities for our teachers as we head into a 1:1 environm I always seem to start feeling anxious about this time of the summer. Inevitably I will begin to "volunteer" hours of time each day to getting ready - and yet continue to feel anxious. The brain candy of beach reading is starting to ferment and it's time to change over to helpful text: iPads in Education for Dummies, Dale Carnagie How to Win Friends and Influence People in the Digital Age, The Connected Educator by Sheryl Nussbaum-Beach, in addition to getting in and cleaning up all those summer emails! Then there is the connected community of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Google+. Our district is implementing a 1:1 iPad program with all of our high school students. That makes me responsible for implementing this program with the 1200 students at my high school while continuing to work with the 80+ teachers to help them become comfortable with the student's immediate access to information. Reading everything I can on all of my connected communities and attending every workshop available at the recent SREB High Schools that Work Summer Conference in Charlotte, NC. ....but I continue to be anxious that I won't be ready. |
